Bristol is the largest city in South West England. It is a growing cosmopolitan city which also benefits from miles and miles of countryside around it and is only a 2-hour train journey away from London. The city is compact which makes it easy to get around on foot and explore everything it has to offer, yet that in no means means it is short of things to do. Bristol is a hub of comedy, with comedians Matt Lucas, David Walliams, Russell Howard and Stephen Merchant all coming out of it. The city is home to two rival football clubs, Bristol Rovers and Bristol City and it underwent a multi-million pound development project, as England’s first official “cycling city”, to make the city as cyclist-friendly as possible. Bristol is close to Glastonbury but it is also home to its own amazing events, including BrisFest, Harbour Festival, Foodies Festivals, Grillstock and Simple Things as well as really cool, unique events like pop-up urban beaches, St Paul’s Carnival, cider festivals and the International Balloon Fiesta.
The more active sorts can enjoy bubble football, paintball, go karting, off-road karting, clay shooting, quad biking, rage and rebel buggies, golf, an adventure centre or treasure hunt. Or why not take a trip to the races (dogs or horses) or on a party bus or boat?! There is also plenty to keep you occupied in the evenings, including casino trips and comedy clubs. Crazy nights out or quiet drinks are both possible in Bristol as you’re sure to find somewhere you’ll love – for example, an exclusive chic cocktail bar, cosy country pub or even a pub-boat.
